Wyndham Social gladly presents Bubble Reveries, a site-specific installation by Hong Kong artist Mandy Ma Wing Man.

Day and night converge on the bustling streets of Central. From the hustling commercial buildings at dusk to the inebriated, sleepless alleys at dawn, people are constantly breaking their backs seeking what their hearts desire. Dreams are like bubbles—fleeting and beautiful, yet destined to dissipate. They oscillate endlessly between impermanence and eternity, separation and belonging. Artist Mandy Ma Wing Man employs the weaving technique of dreamcatchers, filling each hollow circle to pick up each and every lonely dream. Dreams assemble and stack, erecting intricate nets of strength, capturing all the more merry moments.

Ma has always used weaving as her primary creative medium. For her, weaving is a process of self-discovery, and it also gives her the courage to connect with others. In Bubble Reveries she deliberately chooses to use iridescent threads that flash on and off in different lighting, like the occasional glimpse of spider webs in the sunlight. In the alternation of day and night, the changes in lighting can bring more facets to the work, with the lines glimmering in a rainbow of colours under the light, like a world wrapped in bubbles.

The installation will continue to grow and accumulate during the exhibition period. There are 4 workshops scheduled, where the audience can participate at specific times. The artist will guide the participants to weave small dreamcatchers and build structures with others’ works. The completed works will be placed in the exhibition space as part of the exhibition and can be collected as souvenirs upon the dismantling of the exhibition.

In addition to the workshops, there will also be an artist sharing session during the exhibition period, allowing the audience to further understand the artists' thoughts on the work, as well as share their own observations on weaving and the community.
